Homemade Superfoood Granola

Who doesn't love granola? It's a delicious breakfast option, and can be served with some greek yogurt, coconut yogurt, smoothie bowls, nut mylks, or simply as a snack with a side of fruit! The problem is that most store bough granola's are made with unnecessary preservatives, oils, and sugars! There are some packaged granola's that are much better than others and that I do buy, but I always prefer to make my own healthier granola at home. This recipe is one of my favorites, and it always finishes in less than a week since my mom and boyfriend love it as well :)

Recipe:

1/2 cup oats
1/4 cup almonds
3 tsps vegan chocolate chips/carob chips/dark chocolate chips
2 tsps hemp seeds
1 handful sunflower seeds
1 handful goji berries
2 tbsps agave
1 tbsp coconut oil
1 tsp vanilla extract
Cinnamon (as much as desired)
Touch of sea salt

Mix all ingredients together with your hands (this is the fun part!) and bake for 15-20 minutes at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Let cool and enjoy!! :)

A Little Bit About Me

Hi Everyone!

A little over a year ago, I decided to create an Instagram (@fitnessfreak45) that would be dedicated to healthy recipes, meal ideas, fitness motivation, and inspirational quotes. For five years now, I've been obsessed with healthy eating, cooking healthy meals, finding healthy restaurants to eat at, and staying active, which is why I decided to create my Instagram over a year ago. I wanted to share my passion for nutrition and fitness with the rest of the Instagram world, and hopefully inspire others to recreate my recipes and take steps towards living a healthier lifestyle; however, a LOT has changed since five years ago, and even more has changed this past year. What used to be just a hobby for me recently turned into something I am hopefully going to turn into a career; I just changed my (double) major to Nutrition and Communications. I hope to become a certified dietician and health coach, and not only council a few people, but spread my message of living a healthy lifestyle with the rest of the world through my communication skills.  I have a huge, scary vision for my future, and have a lot of goals I hope to accomplish, but I know that with my passion and enthusiasm I will eventually be able to achieve my goals!

The reason I decided to move a step up from my Instagram and create a blog as well is because I always find myself wanting to be more open with my followers, who will now hopefully become my readers as well. I love sharing healthy recipes and meal ideas, but I want to share more than just pictures. I want to be able to talk about everything I went through in the past that got me to where I am now, and hopefully inspire and help other people. I want to still share recipes, inspirational quotes, meal ideas, workouts, and fitness motivations, but with this blog, I want to share more about myself, my journey, and my life with you all, as well as a little bit of fashion and fun :)

My idea of "health" has changed TREMENDOUSLY over the past few years, especially over this past year. I just finished my first year of college, and cannot express enough how much I've grown in such a short amount of time (and definitely for the better). My idea of health will always be evolving as I continue to grow and learn more about nutrition and wellness and my own body every single day. Achieving your best state of health and best version of yourself is an ongoing process, and not an easy one at all. No one is perfect, and no one will ever be "perfect", but at this moment in my life, I believe that I am the healthiest and happiest I've been up to this point in my life. I still have a long way to go, and I hope you will all join me on this journey towards finding the healthiest and happiest version of myself, and most importantly, towards self love. Even MORE important than that, I hope that you too will be inspired to start your OWN journey towards health, happiness, and self love.
